Project managers face in their daily activities challenges of growing complexity projects and deal with many variables to keep them under control. Earned value analysis is one way to control the project progress, by accurately measuring work accomplished against a baseline. However, researches show that earned value analysis isn't widely adopted and characteristics, such as, price of commercial tools, limitations imposed by either no access to source code or lack of desired functionalities, as well as lack of managerial culture on using earned value data, could justify this low adoption. This paper shows the architectural specification of an open system to earned value analysis and the mapping of these concepts as requirements of a system using the PMBOK practices and software quality development attributes like ISO/IEC9126. The architecture design aims to make viable implementations of tools to complement other project management tools by adding earned value information.
