The Differential Evolution (DE) is one of the meta-heuristic methods and finds a global minimum to continue mutation, crossover and selection. It has been reported that the DE can find a global minimum of non-convex and continuous functions with high certainly. However, the reason why the DE can find a global minimum has not been discussed. In this paper we examine the similarity to the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). As a result, we examine the reason why the DE can find a global minimum. The performance of the DE is shown by applying to some benchmark problems and comparing the results with the PSO.
