G205 Effect of pore-scale geometry on chaotic behaviors of thermal convection in Porous Media

Takashi Masuoka, Tomokazu Soejima, Katsunori Tanaka, Tosihiro Oshima · The Proceedings of the Thermal Engineering Conference · 2001

A numerical and experimental study was made on chaos in thermal convection in porous layer heated from below, concentrating on the microscopic inertial effect. The existence of the microscopic chaos of the order of the porous structures was experimentally and numerically confirmed. Local lyapunov exponents distributions are compared with convection and entropy generation patterns.
