An Integrated Architecture for IoT Fingerprinting
Fehmi Jaafar · 2017
This paper discusses a security approach for IoT fingerprinting. We start with revisiting the general security challenges related with the using of IoT, then discuss how IoT fingerprinting can overcome several of these challenges. We also discuss a proposed approach for the establishment of IoT fingerprinting and to maintain a secure communication between IoT devices. The proposed approach is lightweight and allows the protection of IoT devices through strong authentication without having to execute computationally intensive operations. To make this possible, a unique electronic fingerprints that each device creates via its physical characteristics are using to figure out which are legitimate and which may come from potentially malicious sources. Moreover, the proposed approach does not require any modifications to the protocol stacks of unconstrained nodes.
