Digital Mammography: A Review on Detection of Breast Cancer

This paper is a survey of Digital image processing techniques that play a vital role in assisting the biopsies. The mammogram images are stored digitally and several image enhancement techniques are applied to get enhanced images. These enhanced images are segmented to obtain the ROI from which the features are extracted. On the extracted features the acceptance/rejection criteria are applied to determine whether the tumor is benign or malignant. The results of all the techniques mentioned here are studied and analyzed.
