Automatic Detection of Brain Tumor from MR Images using Morphological Operations and K -Means Based Segmentation

Medical image processing is a very important and challenging task and tumor detection from MRI plays a crucial rule. Artefact removal and segmentation both are two fundamental steps in processing brain MRI slides. To understand the image more clearly and reduce the manual segmentation time a computer aided system is required. In this paper we have presented a morphological based preprocessing method and then a segmentation of the image using K -means algorithm and finally tumor size calculation.
