Image Segmentation using an UpWrite

P.S. Williams, Mike Alder · 1996

This technical reports examines the problem of segmenting images containing relatively large spatially disjoint homogeneous regions. The aim is to make few, if any, assumptions about the contents of the image to perform the initial segmentation which can then easily be adapted for a range of applications. The segmentation should produce a description of each disjoint object according to its characteristics. Ideally this information should sufficiently describe the object so that it can be recreated as well as recognised or classified.
