On rough norms on Banach spaces

Rough and strongly .roughnorms on Banach spaces are studied ?their characterizations and dualityproperties are derived.Some results of M.M. Day and I.B.Leach and J.H.M. Whitfield on the existence of smooth norms are generalized.A short proof of a recent theorem of Ch.Stegall concerning Asplund spaces is given.
