Multi-Objective Road Network Partitioning

Amir Meshkat · 2014

Abstract Network Partitioning, and particularly the road network partitioning is the main concern of this paper. The partitioning is proved to be NP-hard, Genetic algorithms are among the most suggested approximation of the solutions. Also a desired road network partition should fulfil more than one objective, so Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithms (MOEA) is chosen to optimize partitioning. Fast and elitist Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) and Pareto Archived Evolution Strategy (PAES) are two strategies that implemented and by applying these strategies on several synthetic networks, it is suspected that a mutation-based approach used in PAES has been beneficial in converging towards the true front, while the diversity preserving mechanism used in NSGA-II leads to a wider range of solutions. © 2014 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
