Before Joe Monroe became chief of police at the University of Kentucky, he completed the FBI National Academy, a prestigious program that only 1,000 people worldwide are invited to attend per year. Monroe credits the academy with bolstering his leadership skills, as well as giving him opportunities to network with fellow security and safety professionals, as well as corporate vendors. “It was a great opportunity to hear from your fellow professionals, and if they have a question about something they're struggling with, maybe you have an answer, and vice versa,” Monroe said.
