Hence, it generates a lot of interest in the research community. To counter this attack, several methods have been suggested with a view of achieving a universal appeal; but, with little success. While most of the remedial methods are based on modifying existing network infrastructure or source code, some novel techniques claim to provide an independent approach that operates with pre-existing conditions. In this paper, we study the traditional as well as novel resolution measures to this problem. We attempt to examine and compare the problem along with available/possible solutions in order to bring up a start up guide on Buffer Overflow attacks and its detection. Keywords : Buffer Overflow Attacks, Detection, Resolution, Return Address, Network Packets
