Bluetooth based travel time estimation : literature review
Henri Sintonen · Doria (University of Helsinki) · 2012
This literature review explores the best approaches to Bluetooth based travel time estimation, since they have gathered much interest as of late.Focus is on the hardware and software design of the system and the technical and economic performance of the technology.Key components and software techniques are identified, such as antenna configuration and data filtering. Most of these topics along with the installation have multiple options, most of which have not been studied comprehensively. The approach performs well in comparison to other alternatives in the accuracy of travel time estimation under medium or heavy traffic, but tends to fail under low traffic. It costs less than the technologies it is compared against and offers a very high level of privacy protection.
