SIS: A scheme for dynamic independent task scheduling in a cloud environment

Neelamugilan Gobalakrishnan, C. Arun · 2016

Cloud computing has bloomed as a huge research area in many ways to be made more scalable and secure. One of the major issues that this technology is battling is to provide quick and high quality service to the consumers by placing a service request to the cloud. Many algorithms have been suggested to provide an algorithm for scheduling these requests in such a way that the various QoS parameters are enhanced. In this paper, propose an algorithm known as the Self-Initiated Scheduling (SIS) algorithm. In this algorithm, the scheduler schedules the incoming tasks to the slave machines based on the global queue it maintains. The slave machines, in turn receive the task and on completing the execution, returns its ID to the scheduler's global queue. On comparing with the traditional scheduling algorithms, SIS proved to produce better results in terms of makespan and the mean flowtime.
