Berger Method and Its Applications

This article reviews the so-called Berger method which is known as a very effective way to analyze large deflections of elastic flat plates and shallow shells. In section 2, we survey briefly the original idea for single layered elastic plates. A modification and a further extension of the method to a more complicated application, i.e., sandwich structures, is shown in the final section.
