Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) update
George Heider · Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE · 1994
Despite the many challenges facing widespread adoption of the Integrated Services Digital Network, prospects for its deployment look better than ever. Driving the standard toward implementation are a broad range of customer requirements. These include higher-speed data transmissions, better quality voice transmissions, as well as new applications for video and voice spawned by the personal computer industry. This paper will chronicle the history of ISDN, examine its current status as defined by evolving customer needs, and take a brief look at future developments.
