Response Times to Known Message-Sets in Noise

Response times to known message-sets of 2–32 monosyllabic words were obtained over a range of speech-to-noise (S/N) ratios. Response time was related primarily to word intelligibility, independently whether the intelligibility was changed by varying S/N ratio, size of message-set, or composition of message-set.
