Sambamemerlukan waktu yang lebih singkat dibanding Microsoft Active Directory padasaat mentransfer file sebanyak 512 file dan 1.024 file dengan ukuran masingmasing file adalah 10 MB.Kata kunci: domain controller, Samba, Microsoft Active Directory, file serverABSTRACTOn the local area network (LAN), Samba and Microsoft Active Directory can beused as file server to store user data centrally. Both of them also allow users toaccess the computer account using any computer that connected to the LAN. Theissues to be observed is the server performance level against pingflood attacks andDoS and data transfer times of both services server. The aim of this research are todisplay the CPU usage percentage and the response time of the server to client innormal condition and during an attack, and to measure the data transfer timebetween two servers. Pingflood attacks carried out by running a script that cansend ping packets in large capacity. DoS attacks carried out by using LOICapplication. LOIC works by sending UDP packets in large capacity to both server. The result obtained in this research is that the average value of response time andCPU usage on the Samba server are smaller than the Microsoft Active Directoryserver. As a DoS attack conducted, the average value of response time on Sambaserver is 224,2 ms with CPU usage by 10,3%, while the response time ofMicrosoft Active Directory server reached 284,2 ms with CPU usage by 27%.Once transferring intact files having 5 GB and 10 GB capacity did not occursignificant differences in time after t test with 95% confidence level. Sambarequires a shorter time than the Microsoft Active Directory when each 10 MB filewas transferred. In addition, the number of transferred file are 512 and 1.024 files. Keywords: domain controller, Samba, Microsoft Active Directory, file server
