Triss has been traditionally been used as a marker of probability of survival in trauma patients. However it is resource intensive and the calculation is complex. Kimura has devised the coefficient for a simplified triss using easy available data i.e. systolic blood pressure, gcs and respiratory rate. Our study demonstrated that there was no significant loss in the aurocc of probability of survival between the kumura model and triss and there was strong agreement (intraclass correlation coefficient) between the two. This will enable developing nations to accurately calculate the probability of survival with the simple tools that they have and thus able to compare directly the performance of the trauma care delivered and for audit purposes.
