Effects of Chartoons & Three-Dimensional Graphs on Interest & Information Gain

Both chartoons — cartoon-like informational graphics — and three-dimensional graphs are found to be more appealing to readers than plain graphs. Much that has been written about effective graphs suggests that both forms should lead to less information gain than plain graphs, but this was not found to be the case.
