I would never have reached this point without the guidance and support of so many people from so many different phases of my life and career.As I come from a family of teachers, the necessity and importance of education was established early in my life.This created within me a deep seated appreciation for experiential learning and has led me from academic studies to industry, industry to military service, and finally a return to academia.Along the way my life has been touched by a vast number of people; all of whom were essential for completing this journey.For those that I don't name specifically, know that it is due to space considerations and not due to a lack of appreciation for your contributions.I start by thanking my parents, James and Karolyn Hill, for their unwavering support throughout my life and all aspects of my education through the completion of my Ph.D. My father's 33 years of selfless military service followed by a return to teaching upon his retirement set a remarkable example for all to follow.I thank my sisters, Kyna Hill and Sonja Phillips, and my brother for all practical purposes, Aaron Crites, for all of their support and encouragement throughout my life's journeys.I would never have been able to complete this dissertation and degree without the support from my wife, Melinda Hill.It was her encouragement and repetition of "I know you will do this", "I know you will finish this" and ultimately "I know you will get a job" that kept my spirits up throughout this process.I also want to recognize our children, Christian, Laccey and Nathan, for their encouragement and motivation over the years.Outside of my immediate family, I will begin by thanking those that have most recently assisted my journey.I must express my sincerest gratitude and appreciation to my dissertation chair, Dr. Pratim Datta, without whose support, guidance and encouragement I would never have completed this final stage.I also am tremendously grateful for the guidance and assistance provided by
