Energy consumption reduction in a pervasive environment using dynamic sink in WSN
Ravi Kumar, K. T. Ramakrishna · 2016
Generally the data sensed by the sensors are collected and routed to the sink in a specific manner for further processing. In this proposed work, the sink node is dynamic rather than being mobile. The dynamic sink collects the data from the pervasive environment continuously. The dynamic route (path) to the sink is established, maintained and updated. Finally the comparison is made between the mobile sink and the dynamic sink, where the performance is determined by the parameters such as latency and energy. The data collection is done by the dynamic sink node and its performance is compared with that of the mobile sink. During the communication in dynamic sink, the path from the source to the sink node is selected by the distance formula. The path is maintained and updated for every virtual sink node. In this paper, the experiment is carried out using open source network simulator.
