In this study, city traffic simulator is developed using Cellular Automata. CA is a class of computer modeling techniques, which consists of discrete unit elements arranged uniformly on spaces, each of which can vary within a finite set of values to express the physical state of the components of the system. The time of evolution of the element state is performed synchronously according to local neighbor rules. The traffic simulation system consists of map editor and the simulator, where the former part provides the user to create map of urban traffic system, whereas the latter performs dynamic simulation of car flow in modeled traffic system. The influence of traffic light switching on car flow is focused in simulations, where the dynamical switching of light length using Genetic algorithm is shown to be effective for improving traffic.
