Visualization becomes a powerful tool for analyzing flow fields. However, interpretation of visualized results becomes more complex, since the complexity of computational/experimental raw data in fluid dynamics increases. Methods or methodologies to support the interpretation of the results are strongly required. One of such the methodologies is to segment the field to be explored, and to extract some patterns from the segmented results and to classify the patterns. In this paper, we propose a new method of segmentation and classification of vector fields using data mining method.
