This paper describes the developlment of an automatic performance system which converts the equal temperament of input MIDI data into an appropriate pure-temperament. Recently, most of Western music performances are played in the equal temperament. Although the equal temperament has advantages such as the ease of chaiging tonality and manifacturing musical instruments, it also has a disadvantage of producing beats in chords. Therefore, we focus on pure-temperament in which chords harmonize themselves without any howl. The performance in pure-temperament requires the decision of tonalities because of the differences between the interval ratio in each tonality. For the input music data, our system determines the tonality out of 24 possible tonalities and automatically plays it in the corresponding pure-temperament. Compared with the performance in the equal temeperament, the system offers more beautiful harmonies to listners, compared with the temperament, it is possible for listener to enjoy the play of pure-temperament.
