VLSI implementation and its optimisation for digital cryptosystems
Ming Ming Wong · Swinburne figshare (Swinburne University of Technology) · 2024
The advent of the digital communication has led cryptography into becoming an important agent in providing a secure channel for information exchange. However, the implementation of these cryptosystems in hardware platform presents several challenges in terms of performance and resource constraints. In this doctoral work, new implementations are presented for two specific cryptographic schemes, which are namely the Advanced Encryption System (AES) and Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC). The proposed work includes the optimisation of the mathematic operations such that they are both effective and efficient in implementation. As an end result, this has successfully reduced the hardware cost (area and power consumption) and enhanced the performance of hardware cryptosystems.
