This paper proposes a structural identification method and its implementation algorithms based on a concept of self-identification for the structures with variable characteristics. By using the dynamical response of the structures to the variation of angular momentum of the rotor, the method is formulated with motion equation in modal space for the gyroscopic system. The numerical examples using a flexible cantilevered beam model show that the identification error depends on the angular momentum with the exact data. The error depends on the frequency resolution of the time histories with the eigenvalues and eigenvectors obtained from EFT analyses.
