Optimized deployment strategy for efficient utilization of the Internet of Things

Saurabh Kumar Pandey, Mukesh A. Zaveri · 2016

The IoT applications need real time communication among different kinds of devices distributed in the environment. This helps in collaborative utilization of network resources to process the data from all the devices. Moreover, these devices may be deployed across a large area. Some parts of this area may be inaccessible for application processing due to remote conditions. In such conditions, there is a need of effective deployment of devices so as to support maximum coverage of the area. This may help to reduce the energy consumption, communication cost, time for sensing and actuation functions. In this context, we propose the use of quasi-based deployment strategy of devices in the IoT scenario. The proposed approach is evaluated and compared with existing deployment schemes to depict its necessity in IoT applications.
