Dynamic Forwarding Window Technique against DoS Attack in WSN

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is collection of various tiny sensor nodes to make communication possible between nodes to base station. Wireless Sensor Networks works in numerous critical situations like battlefields, forest fire detection, territory monitoring and many more circumstances. WSN have numerous design concerns out of which security is the key factor because it affects the overall performance of the network. In this paper we have evaluate PPS scheme and implement forwarding window technique. In this paper we proposed a time allocation based request forwarding window technique to detect and prevent DoS (Denial of Service) attack. DoS attacks are flooding access amount of packets in the network that consumes the energy of the network. In Profile based Protection Scheme (PPS), the behavior of all the nodes deployed in the network are observed. When the attacker floods the network with Route Request messages, the abnormal behavior of the attacker, is detected at the end. But in the Forwarding window technique the attacker is detected in route request phase and prevention will be done in route reply phase. In proposed technique, if any node floods the route request messages more than the dynamic time then it will detect as attacker. And the node which detected this, will inform the others about the ID of the malicious node. The modified route request for forwarding phase will continue until request reaches destination. The destination node will not choose the path containing the detected nodes. The performance is measured on the basis of performance metrics like total packet sent, remaining energy, throughput etc. In this, simulation results are shows that proposed work successfully detect and prevent DoS attack.
