As one of the next-generation network architecture, Named Data Networking(NDN) is information-centered with location-independent addressing, content caching and robust model. However, for the high mobility of nodes, Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) based on traditional Internet usually comes with a high error rates of broadcast channel, and losses of node connection. Hence, NDN is more suitable to be deployed into the VANET. Meanwhile, NDN can avoid most attacks exist in today's network, but it may suffer from some attacks for its own characteristics. Now a new attack pattern is found in NDN based VANET. Under this pattern, malicious nodes take advantage of the mobility of nodes and the network topology variability in VANET, and send random-prefix Interest packets with a higher rate than normal nodes. As a result, the next-hop nodes conduct per-hop diffusion to all the nodes in the network. Consequently, the PIT (Pending Interest Table) of the receiving nodes are occupied completely by the unsatisfied requests and normal services are totally damaged. In this paper, this new attack, named Popple Broadcast Diffusion Attack (PBDA), is discussed, and simulations are conducted. The results are analyzed as well.
