Summary The method of formation Q value extraction is easily affected by strong amplitude caused by lithology, which causes multi solution of the calculation results, so it is very difficult to distinguish the gas reservoir; Wavelet frequency division technology can avoid the mutual influence of different frequency component of seismic signal, and also can be the frequency information of the target reservoir with special treatment, which helps to improve the stability of layer attribute extraction. Based on the above reasons, we propose a method of combination of wavelet frequency division technology and spectral ratio method, which firstly uses the wavelet frequency division technology to obtain the seismic data of the frequency interval of gas reservoir, then uses the spectral ratio method of wavelet domain to calculate formation Q value based on this seismic data. Model test and analysis of an example shows that, the method has higher accuracy and applicability, which is more conducive to predict gas reservoir.
