Adopting Cloud Computing for Enterprise Architecture: SWOT Analysis

The rapid development of Cloud computing in the information technology and the growing desire to use this technology in various fields in recent years is evident. An enterprise needs an appropriate architecture to align the cloud computing with business strategies. Therefore cloud enterprise architecture is required to move an enterprise to the cloud. Cloud computing takes the enterprise architecture disciplines toward the integration of advanced concepts and services, and evokes the concept of service oriented architecture. In this paper, first we discuss the required maturity level of enterprise architecture in an enterprise to align with the cloud, and cloud enterprise architecture disciplines are introduced due to the performed changes. Then we use the SWOT analysis to study the enterprise’s strength and weakness, and also opportunities and threats from the outside perspective of the enterprise using the enterprise architecture to align the enterprise with cloud environment.
