Malware activity is increasing all the time but one thing seems to remain constant: emails with attached documents persist as a common means of delivering malware to unsuspecting victims. And one technique in particular has continued to be popular among attackers – attaching a Microsoft Word document containing an embedded macro that downloads and executes the malware.
