A simple method for detecting and tracking vehicles and vessels from high resolution spaceborne videos

As the cities grow, accurate traffic planning becomes more important than before. Videos from space can be a great source of information which enable us to detect and track vehicles and estimate traffic parameters over a larger region. We will describe a simple, robust, and automatic method which can detect and track vehicles and vessels simultaneously. It is based on background subtraction technique to find moving objects. This method could achieve 100% accuracy over water and almost 90% on land portions of the video.
