Rigorous Analysis on the Sensitivity of Cyclostationary Detection
Yonghong Zeng · 2017
As a major detection and identification method, cyclostationary detection (CSD) has been studied extensively in signal identification/classification and cognitive radio. CSD uses the cyclostationary features inherited in modulated communication signals to differentiate desired signal from other signals or noise. However, the actual cyclostationary features in the signal are affected by many factors. Especially oscillator error and clock error due to the impairments of the devices can change the cyclostationary features. In this paper, sensitivity of the cyclostationary detection is studied mathematically in detail for the digitally modulated signals. Closed-form expressions for the discrete cyclic auto-correlations at any given number of samples are found. Furthermore, robustness of the cyclostationary detection to the cyclic frequency mismatch is found in an explicit expression. Extensive simulations are done to verify the theoretic results.
