Resources for integrating computer vision into the computer science curriculum

Susan H. Strayer · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2017

Open source computer vision and image processing libraries such as OpenCV make it possible to incorporate sophisticated computer vision algorithms into simple prototypes suitable as projects within CS1, CS2 and other courses in the curriculum. The library can be used for teaching object-oriented programming concepts, bitwise data representation and logic, illustrating control and data structures, and developing problem solving skills. This paper provides sample lab assignments suitable for students in first and second year CS courses.
