Textual Apparatus and Digital Labour in the Arden 4 Shakespeare Editions

Within the context of the planned fourth series of the Arden Shakespeare, this white paper considers the prospects for digital representations of textual variants, as well as implications for the roles of editors and encoders in digital environments. The paper also makes a case for rethinking the role of performance in the representation of textual authority in the Arden editions.
