Theoretical investigation of Gaussian and non-Gaussian noise masking properties

The binary communication channel influenced by an additive Gaussian and non-Gaussian broadband and narrowband interference is investigated in order to compare its efficiency when solving the radio countermeasure tasks. The discrete random processes with the Johnson noise distribution are considered as a non-Gaussian noise. Theoretical estimation of these noise efficiency has been held at optimal processing the noise and a priori known signal mixture. It has been shown the use of non-Gaussian noise for signal masking can lead to significant losses in noise power compared with Gaussian noise power. At the same time, when internal noise is relatively weak, the masking efficiency varies slightly.
