Today, there is a need for faster network systems wherein the information exchange can take place in fraction of seconds. In applications involving image, audio, video, server overloading problems may arise if client-server model is used. And hence, to avoid this problem XMPP can be used. The Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) is an Open technology for Realtime communication. XMPP uses the Extensible Markup Language (XML) as the base format for information exchange. XMPP allows to send XML stanzas from one entity to another in Realtime. XMPP is used in a wide range of applications. XMPP is an open technology that provides realtime interactions by using the TCP layer of Internet. The XMPP approach uses long lived open TCP connection which is different from the approach that is used in web and email applications. Here a sensor network is implemented using XMPP wherein when motion is detected, the client gets the relevant information through XMPP. Raspberry Pi is configured as an XMPP Server. The camera interfaced with Raspberry Pi captures the image and stores the image locally which is sent through XMPP server when needed. Thus a faster communication system is set up using XMPP along with Raspberry Pi.
