Displaying Pictures and Menus with Views

This chapter explores various views that used to create robust and compelling applications. It shows how to work with views that enable to display images. The chapter also shows how to create option and context menus in Android application. It discusses some helpful views that enable users to display the current time and web content. The ImageView is a view that shows images on the device screen. The chapter demonstrates how to use the ImageView to display an image. When an image is selected in the Gallery view, it appears by “fading” in. The GridView shows items in a two-dimensional scrolling grid. Menus are useful for displaying additional options that are not directly visible on the main user interface (UI) of an application. There are two main types of menus in Android: Options menu and Context menu.
