Cloud computing is an emerging trend that provides on-demand computational resources to the end users as services. Hence, consumers are charged based on their usage and consumption of services delivered through the Internet. This paradigm aims at outsourcing and delegating computations to an external third-party and reducing operating costs. As a result, public sector and private enterprises are interested in adopting this new concept. Cloud database offers a scalable remote data storage accessible over the Internet. Despite its significant benefits, migrating data to cloud faces several challenges. In fact, security and privacy are still major factors that hinder the acceptance of this approach. To that end, we propose a solution based on Paillier cryptosystem to address security concerns. In this paper, we develop a secure application based on Paillier algorithm to demonstrate the importance of the proposed technique. The result shows that Paillier cryptosystem not only ensures the data confidentiality, but also enables clients to interrogate and exploit the cloud database. More precisely, this method allows clients to perform arithmetic operations over the stored data in a secure manner.
