Abstract: It is difficult for most of us to imagine, but many who are deaf rely on sign language as their primary means of communication. They, in essence, hear and talk through their hands. This paper proposes a system which is able to recognize the signs using a video camera system. The recognized signs are reconstructed by the 3D visualization system as well. To acomlish this task a standard personal computer, a video camera and a special software system was used. At the moment the software is able to recognize several letters from the sign language alphabet with the help of color marks.
