A new scheme for electing stable MPR nodes, based on the mobility degree and the residual energy, for the OLSR protocol

MANET networks (Mobile Ad hoc Networks) are a sub class of mobile and wireless networks. In this type of network, all the nodes are mobile and no fixed infrastructures are considered existing. Among the challenges of the MANET, the stability and the durability of the selected paths in the network. In a previous work, we proposed a solution to this challenge by taking into account the mobility of nodes. In this paper, we present an extension of this work by taking into account conjointly two metrics: the nodes' mobility and the residual energy. The validation results of this new work, using the OPNET simulator, have shown considerable improvement in the quality of installed paths compared to our previous work.
