Stochastic Modelling Techniques for Gesture-Sound Mapping
Sotiris Manitsaris · 2012
This paper presents several techniques for gesture-sound mapping. The most appropriate is proposed to be used for a sound synthesis system based on finger gestures and relies on PianOrasis (associating the terms Piano and Orasis - meaning «vision» in greek). We aim at the development of a system that performs real-time gesture control of sound by using stochastic modeling techniques. “Gesture-sound mapping” is called the procedure which correlates the gesture input data with the sound control parameters. The mapping can be described for low-level parameters or for high-level descriptors.
