The character and function of “有” in the pattern “有+VP”₂

This essay takes the special pattern of “有+VP”, which appeared after 90th last century, as the object of research. Based on spoken Chinese corpus, we divide the pattern into two types: “有+VP”1and“有+VP”₂。We mainly analysis “有+VP”₂ for nobody has paid any attention to it . According to the syntactic position and the pragmatic function, we made the conclusion that in the pattern “有+VP”₂“有”is a modality adverb, which differ significantly from other adverbs, and serving as the purpose of utterance function. In the pattern “有+VP”₂,“有”has not got either a realistic significance or a syntactic component, but got a pragmatic function. According to focus marker theory, the “有”in this pattern makes the role of focus marker and is freely use before predicate.“是”is the typical mark word in Chinese, can label the subject and adverbials, but usually does not label the predicate. So there is complementary relation between the focus markers “有”and “是” in Chinese language.
