Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a collection of sensor nodes capable for sensing instantaneously. WSNs are widely deployed in hostile environment on ad-hoc basis. Routing protocols are used to discover a suitable route among sensor nodes and transfer sensed data from one node to another node. Several routing protocols are developed and configured according to their characteristics. Ad-hoc nature topology and limited resources in sensor networks demand efficient and fast routing process with minimum resource overhead. Open nature of communication formulates it susceptible for various security threats. It becomes a lot of dangerous once purpose of network relates with nation or public security. Wormhole attack is one of such kind that exploits the vulnerabilities of open communication and diversifies the transmission by projected itself as the most attentive node. Routing protocols could also be another excuse of susceptibleness and may be used as launch pad from intruders. This works observe similar weakness into AODV routing protocol and contemplate it as the source of routing for analysis work. This research paper aims to analyze the impact of high transmission power primarily based wormhole attack and explore mitigation methodology to beat constant. Qualnet 5.2 simulator has been used as the simulation tool for development and result analysis purpose.
