The Development and Testing of a WAAS Verification Receiver

Thomas Sanders, Todd Lardy, Ronald L. Brinkley · 1999

A critical part of the development of the Wide Augmentation System (WAAS) is the verification validation of the system. This can only be done with Minimum Operational Performance Standards (MOPS) compliant receiver known as the WAAS Verification Receiver (WVR). This receiver is being developed tested concurrently with the WAAS itself, which presents many unique problems to the WVR development. Furthermore, no tool existed to test requirements could not be performed using a live Signal In Space (SIS). This drove the requirement to develop a WAAS Simulator named the WAAS Receiver Test (WRTT). Testing of the WVR included precision approaches to Category I minima using navigation guidance provided by a MOPS compliant Gamma control head, as well as extensive tests using the WRTT. paper describes the development and testing of WAAS Verification Receiver.
