Getting Your Data into R
Andrew P. Beckerman, Dylan Z. Childs, Owen L. Petchey · Oxford University Press eBooks · 2017
Working with data in R is so much easier if you organize your data well. Hence, your arrangement of data (i.e. how to type them in a spreadsheet) makes it easier to work with in R, with observations in rows and variables in columns. You experience several ways of getting your data into R (i.e. importing them), all of which make this step really quite easy. You learn how to check your data are correctly imported. You learn to recognize when the import hasn’t worked quite as expected, and how to correct some of the most common data import problems. Finally, there is a more advanced section about dealing with data that are not in a good arrangement for R to work with. Dealing with such data involves making them ‘tidy’.
