REST is an architectural style. It is not any strict standard but provides certain guidelines and constraints to be followed. Roy Fielding originally described these constraints in his doctoral dissertation and coined the name Representational State Transfer. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
