Challenges for technology innovation in health care

The health care system in the western world is not sustainable due to growing needs of an ageing population combined with the introduction of new costly medical treatments. Introduction of new cost efficient technologies are promising means to obtain an efficient and reliable health care system. This paper addresses some important challenges for technology innovation in health care and points out how model driven software engineering (MDSE) can contribute to overcome some of these obstacles.
