Holographic data storage set to shine
Edwin Cartlidge · Physics World · 2004
"Imagine holding 100 movies in the palm of your hand" is the message that greets visitors to the website of the Colorado-based start-up company InPhase Technologies. The slogan is not an invitation to try and juggle a huge pile of DVDs, but is designed to show the potential of the firm's holo-graphic-based storage devices. Its technology can be used to make disks that are the same size as DVDs but which can hold 10 to 100 times as much data.
